About Us Celebration is an attitude. We are happy in our family. We are happy in our work. We are happy in our country. We are happy in our skin. This is the ultimate appreciation of daily life. Others feel the power of our love and care, which encourages them to cooperate. This kind of relationship with our kingdom creates a klesha-free environment. There is no bickering and thus as a group our joy has power, which makes us all-victorious. Rejoicing is the telltale sign that we are genuinely ruling our world. The Tamalpais Shambhala Meditation Group, part of Northern California Shambhala, is located in suburban Marin County, just north of San Francisco. We meet in downtown San Rafael, the county’s largest and most diverse city. The Group was founded in October 2001 and is named for the great mountain, recognized since ancient times as a place of magic and natural power. We offer free meditation instruction and group practice in downtown San Rafael at 734 A Street, located just south of Second Street, every Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on the second and fourth Sunday mornings of each month. (Click here for a map of downtown parking. Metered street parking is in effect every day except Sundays and specific holidays.) Shambhala is committed to a spirit of diversity, inclusiveness, and community. The Shambhala teachings challenge us as individuals to recognize and dissolve barriers that separate us from others. As a community of practitioners, we strongly encourage understanding of and respect for the basic goodness inherent in all individuals, social groups and cultures. Our Shambhala Meditation Group is led by a Shambhala Council, chaired by our director, Mr Adrian Jordan. Council meetings are held on a regular basis and are always open to anyone. A working group supports the initiative of the Council and meets at periodic community meetings, which are also open to anyone. If we can answer any questions or concerns, please contact us.
